[post_page_title]We mean, they put so much effort into everything else…[/post_page_title]
Back to the Future does an unusually good job of recreating small town life in the ’50s, especially its pop culture. Almost the first thing Marty sees in 1955, for example, is the Essex theater’s marquee advertising Cattle Queen of Montana, a real 1954 movie starring Ronald Reagan – foreshadowing Doc’s skepticism to Marty saying he becomes president.
Marty also spots a record store, with several vinyls on display. One is Nat King Cole’s 1954 reissue of Unforgettable, but the other three records won’t be released until as late as 1959. With so much effort put into creating the mood, they really could’ve spotted this anachronism.
