[post_page_title]The core of Back to the Future 2’s plot doesn’t make any sense[/post_page_title]
But in actuality, the problematic nature of Back to the Future 2’s premise runs far deeper. Yes, the screenwriters didn’t expect the movie to have a sequel – despite the supposed cliffhanger ending – so they had to improvise. But did they have to completely contradict Doc Brown’s entire philosophy from the original regarding the universe-shattering dangers of tampering with the future?
That’s literally the entire reason he brings Marty and Jennifer to 2015 – so they can rewrite the future. The worst thing is that Doc didn’t even need either of them – he could’ve easily knocked Marty Jr. out himself, like he did Jennifer, thereby preventing the catastrophe.
