This is a pretty small misstep, all things considered, but we got a serious chuckle out of it. When Marty wakes up in his bed back in 1985 near the end of the first movie, we can see all kinds of literature on his headboard bookshelf. Possibly the most visually noticeable is a yellow magazine with a large RQ on it.
Those letters stand for Research Quarterly, a reference librarian trade publication. What’s more, there’s at least one more RQ issue underneath. So is Marty’s interesting in this exciting field professional or just personal? Because reference librarians are the hottest things on TikTok, we hear.
