It’s not exactly as if life is filled with sunshine and rainbows at every turn. Sometimes people do questionable things to reach the goals that they want to achieve. Whether this is viewed as right or wrong is up to the person you ask, but it’s something that some people do.
Today, we want to dive into this a little bit. For the record, nothing too outrageous will be documented. With that said, let’s take a look at some questionable life hacks from people who possibly have some loose morals.
A trick at movie theaters
We don’t know about anyone else, but we definitely prefer going to the movies during non-peak times. While it can sometimes be exhilarating to sit in a movie theater with a stacked audience, it can also be a heavy nuisance.
And perhaps you want to kick your feet up and relax on the seat in front of you. Pouring your drink all over the seat is a sleazy way to get the job done. Hey, if you look at it this way, at least it gives the people cleaning the theater something to do.
Getting out of an event
There are just times where you don’t feel like doing anything. You don’t feel like working, going out with friends, talking on the phone, etc. All you feel like doing is going home and resting on your chair or couch.
It seems like it’s always at these times that people want to get a hold of you to do something. However, you don’t want to just flat-out tell them no as you’d feel bad (not everyone). How about just sending them a pic of your “flat tire?” Yeah, that sounds like a good excuse.
A compliment for the wrong reasons
Some people just get under your skin. It happens to everyone. You try to give all people a chance, but there are just some folks that you’ll never get along with. If that person just so happens to be a friend of one of your best friends, the situation can be even worse.
We’re not going to comment one way or the other on this one regarding if it’s right or wrong. Let’s just say that there are certainly worse ways that someone could go about the situation.
Going to Starbucks
Knowing the luck of some people, they would get the rare girl who doesn’t like to drink coffee. Sure, there are reasons to go to Starbucks past your coffee needs, but that’s clearly what they’re known for.
And, at the end of the day, it’s hard to go wrong when you end up taking anybody to Starbucks. Not to mention that a hot cup of coffee can often jog your memory first thing in the morning. You see, there are so many reasons why this is a good idea.
This one’s just not right
We have to give credit where credit is due, some people are very creative when it comes to making a few extra bucks. Without question, it’s certainly easy to question the morals of this (which is kind of the point).
All things considered, however, it’s not the worst way that we’ve seen people make a little extra cash. But, at the end of the day, this is the question. Just because no one ever figured it out, does that really make it right?
Getting a free game
Yep, this is a way to get your hands on a free game. Yet, you do have to pay for it first. Then again, it’s worth noting that not every single manufacturer is going to send you a new copy of their software.
Some of them may attempt to troubleshoot the problem with you. In this case, you might as well just cut off the conversation to cut your losses. Who knows, however, you might wind up with a free game. Just don’t resell it illegally after that.
Trying to get a deal
All things considered, this one’s not too bad. The fact is some people on Craigslist list the items they’re selling at prices that are simply too high. Perhaps they want to give themselves a bit of leeway for negotiations or something, which does make sense. Either way, it happens.
So, implementing this method to try and get yourself a good deal is not too corrupt. There’s no guarantee that it’s going to work, but it may be worth a shot.
Getting past the lines
Oh, boy, if you’ve ever been to a major park such as Disneyland, you understand how ridiculous the waiting times can be for some of the major attractions. We’re talking hours here, and it can be really annoying to wait that long.
In fact, it can oftentimes heavily impact the experience as a whole as you just feel like you’re waiting in line the entire time. Getting yourself a handicapped individual can help to alleviate this issue. Plus, you can provide the handicapped individual with the time of their lives. It’s a win-win.
Getting a free Starbucks order
To be honest, this is probably something that you could do anywhere. As long as your guilt wouldn’t drive you crazy afterward (that would definitely happen to us) that is. Additionally, this is something that would probably work better while the joint was packed and extremely busy.
With just a few customers in the store, it would be less believable that your order would be taken. Wow, listen to us, we’re sitting here trying to strategize this. This list is beginning to infect us.
Talking on the phone
They say that lying is never a moral thing to do. However, when lying can prevent someone’s feelings from getting hurt, it sometimes is not as awful as it sounds.
Take talking to someone on the phone, for example. If you really don’t feel like talking to the person, for whatever reason, tell them that your phone’s about to die right at the beginning. Yeah, they might call you out on it. Yet, what they’ll probably do is understand and get to the point of their conversation.
Get out of the way
It can be such a complex task to get through crowds of people. While doing so, you try to be as polite as possible. Sometimes, however, people don’t like to move out of your way. One way to get through them as quickly as possible is to scream, “I’m going to puke.”
Speaking for us, we would certainly get out of dodge extremely quickly if someone was screaming that. Talk about a quick way to ruin an amazing night, getting covered with vomit would certainly do so. A bit gross, if you ask us.
Some red flags here
Yep, we’re going to be “that guy” who picks apart this scenario. What we want to do is point out some red flags that we noticed. First of all, if you happen to get caught by a police car while doing this, the entire plan is going to go up in flames.
Second of all, is anyone really going to buy this? Policemen and security officials will probably be able to notice a car with a fake license plate. Alright, now that we sucked all the fun out of this one, we’ve made our case.
Cheaper prices for the win
Holy smokes, this is incredibly ingenious. In the grand scheme of things, additionally, it’s also not the worst thing that we’ve ever seen. Now, this will only work for electronics stores that actually have open box discount sections.
Buying an item, opening it, returning it, and then going back to buy the exact same item at a discount is quite the scheme. Just make sure that the same cashier doesn’t see you make the purchase and you should be good to go.
Cheaper than parking
In reality, the only way this is going to be logical is if the tire rotation service costs less than the parking would. If not, it kind of makes the entire idea pointless. For the sake of this section, let’s just say that this is indeed the case. We do need to ask when parking would ever be that darn much, though.
Perhaps if you live in a major city or like to attend a lot of special events this could be of use. It’s not a bad plan to try and execute.
Free breakfast in the morning
Few things in the world grab the attention of people quicker than free food. It has almost become a cliché when someone asks someone if they want to come to a gathering, only for them to respond with the question, “will there be food there?”
Hey, free food is enticing, and sneaking into a hotel to get a continental breakfast is one way to go about it. As the photo indicates, though, make sure it’s a busy hotel to avoid suspicion.
Not a lot to lose
It’s actually very interesting how this one works. When you stop and think about all the emails that the event organizers probably get when they’re trying to get everything taken care of for their big events, it makes sense that people could get away with something like this.
Using a temporary email account would then also avoid anything happening to your actual account. Sure, this isn’t going to work every single time, but you might get lucky.
Grace periods for car garages
Most parking garages that you see will have grace periods. These grace periods can allow for quite a few different things, but they’re also for drivers who can exit without paying if they couldn’t find a parking space.
With that being said, not all parking garages will require tickets. For those that do, you’ll have to pay to get in. However, people can take advantage of the grace periods to get away with not paying. We feel this wouldn’t work very often, honestly.
A surplus of flowers
We’re going to say this, as long as people don’t pick the flowers from actual gravestones. People should remember that flowers are often placed near gravestones for special meaning. It could crush someone to find that their flowers were stolen, as you never know what the sentimental value of them were.
Flowers around the graveyard, however, would probably be the better choice. There are some very pretty flowers that you can often find there too.
It might void the warranty
When it comes to products and returning them, it always depends on the manufacturer or store you’re dealing with. A lot of times, products will come with warranties. On these warranties will often be instances where they become void.
For instance, if you’re responsible for the damage, some products won’t be able to be returned. It just depends on the company and what they specify. In other words, we’re saying that people should probably be careful with this one.
Taking advantage of the system
We’re fairly certain that store owners would probably not be too fond of this trick. Speaking for ourselves, we’re just detailing what you see in the picture. You’re not going to get any opinion from us on this one.
Self-checkout systems are really nice as when all you have are a few items, it can be a nuisance to wait in a long line to check out. Yet, these systems are not perfect and can oftentimes be taken advantage of. As you can see from the picture, this is an instance of such.
It’s nice to have kids
A lot of people are terrified to have children. There’s no doubt about it, they’re a huge commitment. Life completely changes when kids are brought into the picture, but it’s often a worthwhile experience.
Though life can sometimes be a lot harder, it can also be a lot more rewarding with children. One of the ways is getting some cheaper meals at certain buffets and such. Money doesn’t grow on trees, and some people will do anything they can to buy items at cheaper rates.
Adding more luggage
If you’ve ever traveled via flight, you probably know the frustration of dealing with the luggage system. For your carry-on luggage, you can only take so much. Yet, sometimes you want to take more but simply don’t have the room for it in your bag.
Taking a trip to the airport’s gift shop can be a great way to get a little more room for your carry-on luggage. Just ask for the gift bag and give yourself some more storage space. Okay, this is something we’re definitely going to try next time we’re at an airport.
Leasing clothes
When you think about it, this concept is basically like leasing clothes. Technically, you’re not really going to be owning the clothes you purchase, much like you would do when leasing a vehicle. This is really a great idea for people who don’t want to spend a lot of money on clothes, but who also like going out in style.
Just make sure to never wash the clothes doing this strategy. More often than not, retailers will not accept product returns for clothes if they’ve been washed.
Good time to get a car
A lot of times in life, it’s all about timing. The same applies when you need to buy a new vehicle. If you find someone that really needs to sell their car pronto, you can often get a good deal on it.
For example, when a family is trying to wrap up all loose ends with the passing of a loved one. There’s no reason to feel guilty over this, it’s a win-win for everyone. The family, if they’re trying to figure out what to do with owned vehicles, might be wanting to sell very quickly.
Using the restroom
Can we just say that public restrooms are often not the best place to be? Some companies and organizations keep their restrooms clean and fancy, and those are always the best ones to visit. Expensive hotels, for example, are sure to have public bathrooms to make even the most timid of people feel comfortable.
Quite honestly, they’ll probably be better than any other bathroom you visit. Heck, some are probably so good that you’ll want to have the urge to go to the restroom just to visit them.
Pennies for quarters
Doing laundry in a public place can get fairly expensive. This is especially true if laundry is being done for a large family. It can become quite a costly trip, let’s just say that. When you exchange quarters for pennies, however, the cost comes down by a handsome margin.
We’re just going to assume that this trick doesn’t work all that often. It actually doesn’t even make sense that it would as quarters are clearly larger than pennies. Machines can be weird, though.
Who knows what’s in the mug
When drinking from a mug on a video call, no one is ever going to know what’s inside. You can literally drop whatever you want inside from soda pop to coffee to milk, you name it.
Of course, you can also do what this gentleman did. Given that he did it for a video conference, hopefully, he didn’t overdo it. No reason to get fired over something silly. Some companies are probably fairly strict with how video conference calls go down.
Reading subscription sites for free
Indeed, there are some websites out there that require you to sign-up for their subscription packages in order to view and enjoy their content. Sometimes, though, you really want to know the content of a specific page but don’t want to sign-up.
Deleting the cookies on your web browser is one way to go about doing so for free. For the record, no, this is not referencing physical chocolate chip cookies. Speaking of which, those sound quite fantastic right now. We certainly wouldn’t want to delete those.
Still using the universities’ discount
One perk of going to college is you often get major discounts on certain items (often related to school). Even after you graduate, you’ll find that a lot of the same discounts exist. When you think about it, this really isn’t such a bad thing.
By going to college to a specific university, you’re giving them a ton of money and also recognition. Being able to take advantage of the discounts you’re provided is all good in our book. It’s also not as if going to a university is cheap.
It’s all about the plan
The concept of watching movies all day long at the movie theater isn’t actually going to be enticing for everyone. Some people might be all over the chance to do so, but even avid movie theater lovers would probably admit that it would eventually be too much.
It might be something to just do once, though, as that would probably be adequate. Planning out the movie theater’s schedule is going to be the most important aspect of this. It will take time and dedication.
Time is everything
It’s one of the oldest clichés in the book, but it reigns true every single time. Time is money and for most organizations, the quicker the better. Yes, sloppy execution is not worth a faster pace. It’s all about maintaining excellent execution at the fastest rate humanly possible.
The point in all this is it somewhat makes sense that a company such as Chipotle would want to implement something like this. Many of you are now probably sitting back and wondering how to get your debit card not to authorize.
Family is the top priority
Adults spend the majority of their lives working. It’s actually kind of a depressing realization, to be honest. It makes finding something you actually like to do all the more meaningful. Anyway, back to the topic, days off are often seen as blessings.
Yet, sometimes, your body just needs some extra rest (both physically and mentally). However, some places of work are less lenient when it comes to requesting time off. When it comes to family problems, though, it can sometimes do the trick.
Living in a noisy neighborhood
One of the aspects that are almost impossible to account for when you buy a home is what the neighborhood is going to be like. Yes, you can conduct some research on the city you’re potentially moving to.
Regarding your close neighbors, however, that can be a little trickier to predict. If you just so happen to live in an area that experiences a lot of noisy kids virtually all day long, it can certainly get annoying. This is just one of the many solutions you could resort to.
Not very good at lying
We’re fairly sure that many people reading this right now know at least one person who just isn’t very good at lying. Regardless of the circumstances, the world is not without people who lie. Some people can pull it off better than others, as some people simply have too much guilt to pull it off.
For the people who do end up being horrendously bad at lying (or pretend to be), they can eventually hit a point where no one knows that they are actually lying. Yeah, that makes sense.
The priorities are evident
Clearly, the hope is that you never get into an accident. As we all know, you can’t predict what’s going to happen in this world. Everyone gets dealt a different hand, so it’s vital to plan for the worst. So, with that being said, this is an ideal way to plan for a very bad accident.
The hope is that paramedics would do their best to attend to all involved parties to save as many lives as they possibly could. And we can only assume that this is the mindset of so many involved in this field.
Be careful regardless
The moral of this “hack” is it really is just important to stay safe when you’re driving home at night after visiting the bar. It’s advised to always have a designated driver on hand who is highly capable of driving everyone home.
Yes, this is a fun little trick, but it can also still end very badly. The point is to joke around at how much people want their pizzas on Friday and Saturday nights, but there always needs to be limits.
Not paying for your drinks
Whenever you can go to a public place and get stuff for free, it’s often considered a successful night. Going to a country concert and dressing like someone would in the military to get some free drinks really goes to show the level of respect that military veterans receive.
Rightfully so, as those men and women put their lives on the line to fight for their country. It’s something that not everyone is cut out for, and it’s fantastic that certain people are.
Amazon to the rescue
At the end of the day, it literally seems like you can find anything you want on Amazon. We’re starting to be convinced that you can order time machine devices from the site, as they probably sell them. To be able to order the key for the apartment’s public washer and dryer is honestly hard to believe.
The lock must be a universal model as that’s the only feasible way we could imagine this being possible. What a win for the person, though, they just hacked the washer and dryer.
Prison or a life of fulfillment
Let’s be real, there aren’t too many positives to debating whether or not to attempt to rob a bank. It’s just not a smart decision, and it’s not as easy as they make it look in the movies. One way to look at it, though, is like this.
Basically, for the next 10 years, you’ll either be rich with money or behind bars. As the caption indicates, either way, you won’t have to worry about food and rent for that time. You know what, this one really just speaks for itself.
Probably better ways to go about it
Yep, that’s the extent of what we’re going to say about this one. There are probably several superior ways to go about this scenario. To humor what is pointed out here, though, it’s a very clever way to get the point across to your significant other.
Break-ups are never an easy thing to deal with, and nobody would scoff about them. It just seems like a simple conversation would prevent this from needing to be a thing. But that’s just our two cents.
Allowed to leave due to technicalities
We all know Alan Turing and the contributions he has made to the field of computer science and mathematics, even though it’s been decades since he passed away. Recently, they even made a biopic about him called The Imitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbacht.
Did you know that Turing was able to leave the military because he had literally disagreed to the terms and conditions? It’s actually pretty interesting that it went unnoticed too. That being said, he was able to leave the military when he wanted to. Don’t try this at home though, kids.
How to print for free at college
Most universities and colleges give students an allocation of free printing at the start of every semester. Thankfully, it’s covered in the thousands of dollars that students pay to study there.
However, if you’re one of those people that always runs out of their quota, we’ve got the perfect hack for you. Next time you’re on campus, just plug the printer directly into your computer. This way, you can bypass the university’s system and print without any reduction in your quota. With this method, you can now print to your heart’s content.
How Converse is paying less taxes
It’s no surprise that large companies like Converse spend tons of money trying to reduce their tax expenditure. However, we always thought it would include offshore accounts and complicated financial transactions.
However, this little technicality Converse uses to pay taxes is just genius. They even went the extra mile and added a thin layer of felt so that they can be categorized as slippers. Is that why they’re so comfy? Looks like we’ve finally figured it out why. We’re not going to lie, that’s actually pretty impressive.
How to get $200 textbook for free
It’s amazing just how ridiculously expensive college textbooks can get. Considering how much college tuition costs, we feel like they should be getting them for free.
However, if you end up needing to buy an insanely expensive textbook, we’ve figured out how you can get it for free. If the textbook’s publisher provides a free trial, you can just screenshot all the pages so you can use it for free and cancel the trial. This method is perfect unless you also have to use the homework software that often accompanies textbooks.
Use trial software forever for free
This tip requires advanced knowledge of computers and is therefore not suitable for everyone. However, considering how much money you can end up saving we think it’s totally worth the effort.
It’s amazing how you can find software online that can do pretty much anything. However, you can simply get the trial version for free and use it forever using a virtual machine. Basically, you can clone your operating system using virtual machines and it will allow you to use the software forever. How cool is that!
How they got their scholarship for college
This hack isn’t even unethical. In fact, we think it’s downright genius and shows how committed this person was. As you can see, they applied to a scholarship that was available only to students from a district that’s been restructured. Actually, it’s pretty interesting that they still have that scholarship even though it’s been nearly fifty years since the changes.
Considering the level of ingenuity it takes to even come up with something like this, we think this person totally deserved that scholarship. They’re lucky they won’t have to worry as much about student debt.
If you don’t feel like working today
The internet is filled with hilarious tips and tricks you can use to get out of work. While many of these tricks could end up costing people their jobs, that hasn’t stopped them from trying.
It’s almost like they work more to not work. This person figured out that they could choose not to work that day by spending all day in the conference room pretending like you’re stuck on hold. If someone asks what you’re doing, just ask frustrated. While it’s never a good idea, we feel like this one might just work.
Harry Houdini is unstoppable
Is it any surprise that legendary escape artist and illusionist Harry Houdini is on this list? What’s really interesting however is that he isn’t here for any of his magic tricks but rather a technicality that he managed to successfully escape. Houdini wanted to patent his famous “Chinese water torture cell” trick but realized that he’d also have to reveal his trick.
Not one to be bogged down by such minor challenges, Houdini performed the show and had it copyrighted so he wouldn’t have to reveal his secret. That’s genius for you.
The best dressed baby on Google
This person won a “best dressed baby” photo contest by submitting a photo of a random baby they found online. Apparently, the rules didn’t mention that they had to be the photo in the baby and no one bothered to verify. We’re not sure how we feel about this one.
We feel like most people wouldn’t be too pleased if they found out that’s how they’d lost the photo contest. That being said, it’s still not technically cheating so we guess it doesn’t matter. We hope the prize was worth all the effort.
In case you missed garbage day
Isn’t it annoying when you’ve missed garbage day and all the bags are starting to pile up? If you live in a neighborhood with apartment complexes and condominiums, worry not for we have found the perfect hack to this reasonably common problem. It’s not even a hack, it’s that simple. In all likelihood, you’ll be able to use the unlocked dumpsters those buildings have.
It’s highly unlikely that anyone will say anything and you can just pretend for a few seconds that you actually live there. Give it a go, it might just surprise you.
The best kind of discount
It’s really common for fashion brands to have “buy one get one” (BOGO) offers, which as the name suggests implies that customers get another item for free. However, most companies will usually expect you to return both items even if you want to return just one of them.
That being said, it doesn’t hurt to try and as this person would discover, the company allowed them to keep the free item, which they ended up actually getting for free. We wonder how many people shopped there just to pull off this little trick.
Staplers to the rescue
To be clear, we would never recommend actually going through people’s stuff — especially at work. However, if you just can’t resist the urge to go poking around, always keep an empty stapler in your hand.
This way, you just pretend like you were looking for staples. If there’s no public feud between you and that person, most people won’t even bat an eye. Still try and be as inconspicuous as you can though. You could end up getting into a lot of trouble if you end up getting caught.
Because “Froot” is not a real word
You wouldn’t expect sugar-laden breakfast cereal kids to be the hallmark of a healthy and nutritious breakfast, would you? Yet, some people still felt deceived that the famous breakfast cereal brand “Froot Loops” doesn’t actually have any fruit in it. In fact, the Kellogg’s company, which makes them, has been sued several times for not actually adding fruit to their cereal.
The judges have always ruled in favor of the company and their reasoning is hilarious: “froot” is not a real word and therefore it’s unreasonable to expect it to actually have any fruit.
How to get free parking on campus
Paying for parking can get incredibly expensive, especially on a student budget. However, this student figured out that you can get it for free by befriending an elderly person. we feel like this hack is perfect if only a few people use it.
We don’t want all the elderly people in the neighborhood suddenly being pursued by college students now, do we? That being said, it’s pretty amazing and we feel like this would totally work. As far as ethics go, it’s questionable.
The only perk of working at McDonald’s
Most people would agree that McDonald’s workers are the personification of all the reasons why we need a minimum wage that is a “living wage.” They’re always overworked and underpaid, so it’s no wonder. However, McDonald’s employees also have lots of other perks the company offers them. In addition, you can get more out of the company’s promotional programs.
For example, this person literally collected $1 scratch-off cards for Best Buy from the trash that they then used to get a free laptop. That’s impressive! They must have really needed that laptop.
Exploring Seattle in a U-Haul truck
Most states have regulations which state that the minimum age at which you can rent a car is 25. However, this person wasn’t going to let any of those regulations stop them from having a good time. They even found an amazing loophole which is actually pretty neat.
Apparently, you can rent a U-Haul pickup truck as long as you’re over 18 and it cost only $20 for the day. They even went to Seattle in the truck. We feel like the truck would also be more comfortable for this person and their friends.
Create fake appointments on your calendar
This person realized that they could get out of doing their job by creating fake appointments in their calendar so they can watch Christmas movies. However, we feel like this one is convincing enough for almost any kind of situation.
Use it scarcely though. You don’t want to end up becoming the person who’s somehow always in meetings and yet nothing is getting done. Remember, with great power comes great responsibility. In fact, this would be perfect to get out of meetings you need to have but want to delay.
Concert tickets and a laptop
We all know just how difficult it can be winning contests held by radio stations. It can be frustrating because they usually also have amazing prices. However, this person and their former girlfriend figured out a foolproof way to win every single contest.
They discovered that the station would post the songs they were going to play next on their website. Each time they had a contest where callers had to guess what song they’d play next, the couple would call and win. They even won concert tickets and a laptop.
The most unethical hack for skipping work
Considering just how disruptive and contagious the COVID-19 virus is, this might just be the most unethical life hack on this list. During the pandemic, it was common practice for companies to test the temperatures of their employees everyday before they were allowed to start working.
This person turned it into an excuse for skipping work by using Thermacare, which increases the body’s temperature which meant they had to stay at home and rest for two days. Use this tip with caution because you could also create a lot of unnecessary panic.
Get recommended by the perfect candidate
This person was tired of getting rejected or being ignored on job portals so they came up with what can only be described as one of the most unethical tips we’ve ever seen.
They figured out that if they make a fake profile claiming to be the perfect candidate with all the right qualifications and experience, they’d have a way in. Not directly, of course. First, this fake candidate would ask for an unreasonably high salary and then recommend you as a better fit instead. That way, you’re guaranteed an interview.
