Given that corks are used to plug up containers full of liquid, and they do such a fine job, it makes perfect sense that this person would have used a cork to stop up the hole in this valve.
However, this is obviously a very temporary solution, given that cork isn’t quite as hardy a material as the metal that plumbing appliances are usually made up of. That said, we have to give kudos for ingenuity – although we sure hope this person doesn’t put that cork back in the bottle.
