Jon Snow in the MCU, and all the other news out of D23

There’s no doubt the 2019 D23 expo in Anaheim, California was the best one yet. Disney fans exploded on the internet when they revealed their upcoming projects and attractions for 2020 and beyond. With so many trending topics it’s hard to keep track of what’s what and what’s hot for the world of Disney right now. We’ve narrowed it down to bring you the best news to emerge from the 2019 D23 expo.

Jon Snow in the MCU?

Well, obviously not Jon Snow himself. The last we saw of Jon Snow, he was heading off beyond the wall to live out his days with the wildlings. Kit Harington, the actor who played Jon Snow in the hit series “Game of Thrones” has moved over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He will grace the big screen in November 2020 as Dane Whitman, aka The Black Knight, a mid-level hero with no real claim to fame. While we haven’t heard from this character at all since his last comic book appearance in 1967, it will be interesting to see how the MCU integrates The Eternals with The Avengers and pulls this one off.

Disney+

While there has been so much talk about the new Disney+ channel launching in November, D23 confirmed the making of six new series and films that will be completely exclusive to the channel:

The Mandalorian – A first-ever live-action Star Wars series.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series – A new series based on the same concept as the films.

Lady and the Tramp – A live-action version of the original much beloved animated film.

Noelle – A Christmas story starring Anna Kendrick and Billy Eichner.

Encore! – Some more High School Musical fun with Kristen Bell bringing back former castmates to relive their final performances.

Lizzie McGuire – An all-new series still starring Hilary Duff.

Theme parks

Big news for Disney theme parks in the near future with Epcot set to receive a major transformation. The Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida is a massive crowd puller for the franchise and the new features are said to be out of this world. An all-new Moana attraction called “The Journey of Water” is an educational and interactive experience for children. Futureworld is landing three new neighborhoods called “World Discovery, World Celebration, and World Nature.” Add to this a new roller coaster named “Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind” and there are all the right reasons for everyone who has already been to the park to head that way again.

Epcot isn’t the only revamp happening, Disneyland California is opening a whole new “Avengers Campus” with some epic new rides and attractions. Take an excursion through “Pym’s test Kitchen” and discover the science of shrinking and growing food. Or visit the first-ever Spider-Man attraction

Disney cruise liner and Island

Just when you think they have done it all. Disney Wish will be the fifth cruise liner in the Disney fleet and is due to set sail in 2022. Not only is the liner a new feature, its destination is pretty cool too. Lighthouse Point is the new name of their second island in the Bahamas.

If Disney is your thing, you will not be disappointed with the next couple of years. There’s a little something for everyone to enjoy, wherever you are.
