This is a very good point. Michael Myers doesn’t even try to quietly tiptoe his way around. Not that boots are very easy to tiptoe in. This is one of many, many plot holes in the Halloween series.
You can actually pick pretty much any horror movie, and easily point out about ten plot holes. But that’s not the best way to enjoy a scary movie. Better to just embrace the plot holes and not focus too much on logic.
