We are all aware of how expensive hospital visits can be, especially without medical insurance. The reason that prices become higher without insurance is that insurance companies negotiate to get rates as low as possible, with the hospital while still being able to make a profit.
Being uninsured means, you don’t get that negotiated price and have to pay whatever the hospital decides. It all seems pretty unfair, especially for a single mom of two who are already struggling.
