What we liked so much in The Avengers series

With the release of Avengers: Endgame in cinemas and fans everywhere feeling like it’s the end of an era, it’s time to have a look back and remember what is it we liked about the Avengers series so much. Many fans started at the very beginning, watching the Iron Man movie back in 2008 that marked the beginning of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe and the start of the run-up to the Avengers. But what made the Avengers so successful, and why were they so well-loved? Let’s have a look at what makes them so awesome.

Avengers Assemble (2012 Movie)

This movie was the very first in the Avengers installment and was one of the most anticipated movies of all time. These characters are brought together to fight the oncoming evil that they had no idea would develop into a full-scale war lasting several films. One of the most interesting character dynamics in this movie is of that between Steve Rogers, aka Captain America and Tony Stark, aka Iron man. The spats between these two are truly iconic, but also totally believable. Of course, these two clash personalities because they are both natural leaders, for different reasons. However, what truly makes this movie is having Tom Hiddleston’s charismatic Loki as an antagonist, bringing us the famous ‘Hulk smash’ scene that no one is going to forget any time soon. In the end, the Avengers may have overcome the immediate threat, but with no idea what’s coming next.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015 Movie)

This movie’s antagonist is effectively a result of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner’s AI programming along with the help of the mind stone. Of course, they didn’t know what would happen, but the Avengers spend the movie both hiding and trying to find a way to stop Ultron. They are faced with the cataclysmic consequences of their actions as Ultron raises an entire nation to the sky. This causes a government meltdown that raises questions about regulating the Avengers in some way. At the end of the movie, we’ve been introduced to some awesome new characters such as Scarlet Witch and Vision, but the original Avengers have disbanded in a way which leads on to the events of Captain America: Civil War.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Infinity War was the highest grossing installment before Avengers: Endgame, and with good reason. We saw the resurgence of Steve Rogers with his loyal companions as they save Wanda and Vision in an awe-inspiring scene. It’s also the first Avengers movie where these guys are directly trying to prevent Thanos from recovering the Infinity Stones, and we slowly watch as they try and fail to do so. Thor gets himself a new, bigger weapon and has come into his own while other characters are off-world doing their best to stop half the world from ending. In the end, fans are met with watching their characters face defeat as half their world fades away into dust, literally.

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

This recently released installment is so successful that it’s already knocked Titanic off second place in the world box office stats, who knows, maybe Avatar is next. It saw the most significant and most goosebump-inducing fight scene with a tear-jerking ending everyone will remember for a long time. It also marked the end of an era for Avengers, as we’re introduced to newer characters who will take over the legacy and carry it forward.

These movies will remain iconic, even if it does seem that the MCU is heading in a new direction. Of course, these characters could never go on forever, and it makes way for new heroes to discover and love just like fans did these guys.
