The love triangle between Katniss, Gale, and Peeta dragged on for all four movies, but got particularly awkward in Catching Fire when President Snow made Katniss pretend to be in a romantic relationship with Peeta. The plan was to show the world that them attempting to take their lives by eating poisonous berries which led to their duo-victory was out of love, and not an act of rebellion.
Although Katniss agrees, she and Peeta made it painfully obvious just how much of a sham their fake romance was. Like, if it means saving your people, couldn’t they have at least tried?
