Many of the people who got behind Oliver were neighbors who lived close to the senior citizen. They didn’t approve of what this new resident was doing, and they believed he should take responsibility for his actions.
They felt so strongly about the whole situation that they apparently didn’t want him to live in the area at all. They believed he had a poor attitude, one that wouldn’t fit in with the other residents of Osceola. Needless to say, he wasn’t getting a warm welcome once he moved in.
