If a teacher wants their kids to absorb all sorts of information throughout the year, then they have to start by meeting them halfway and learning all their students’ names, with correct pronunciation. The result of being continuously called some knock-off version of our names can be more impactful than one might guess.
Plus, when we know we’re noticed, we perform better. Each student matters as an individual, so to afford them their identities is a simple rite of passage to be employed in every classroom. No more, “What’s your name again?” please. Use this visual aid strategy if needed.
