In many language classes – French, in this case – students are assigned appropriate names. This teacher, however, remembered to give their students French names more than halfway into the school year.
Not only that, but they decided they’ll take points off both their exams and daily participation if they don’t refer to themselves by their French name, and to others by theirs. It might be said that the entire practice is useless and teaches nothing, but honestly, taking off points for not calling your buddy Frank “François”? Ugh.
