Sunglasses with chains do certainly have a practical element to them, like preventing the more scatterbrained amongst us from losing their shades. However, for most people, this is a pretty unnecessary accessory.
In the 90s, however, even the most conscientious and responsible people had chains on their sunglasses, dangling their glasses from their necks as though they were a necklace. It almost seemed as though something was missing, when people wore sunglasses without a chain – thank goodness those days are over.
