One of the defining characteristics of a penguin is the fact that it can’t fly. While we’re sure that they would like the option to fly if they could, that’s just not a talent they were bestowed with – but that doesn’t mean that they’re not a bird.
However, one student had to inform their teacher that a penguin is still classed as a bird even though it can’t fly about from one iceberg to the other. Despite their protestations, the teacher was convinced that a penguin isn’t a bird. That’s reassuring.
