Even though we rarely get any sort of glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes at Kensington, Buckingham or any other palace for that matter, in the wake of Harry and Meghan’s bombshell announcement the palace had no choice but to go on record.
In the tersely-worded official message, the palace said that discussions with Harry and Meghan were “at an early stage.” While their desire to take a so-called “different approach” was understood, the palace made mention of the fact that they were dealing with “complicated issues” that will take some time to work through.
