Yes, here we have another example of a seriously backhanded compliment. Kids these days, right? As a mom, you want your children to think that you’re the best thing since sliced bread, and you want them to think that you’re so much better than other moms out there.
After picking up my 8 year old daughter from a birthday party, she happily remarked, "I'm glad you don't try to be pretty like some of the other Moms." #ThatWasCold

While this mom was probably happy to hear that her daughter thought she was prettier than the others, it was a kind of backhanded compliment that seemed to showcase her as someone who didn’t try. This one is confusing.
