After bagging all of your purchases, most people put the jam packed bags right back in the cart and wheel it out to the parking lot and the waiting car. But there are actually metal loops framing the top fold-out sections of grocery carts, that are for this specific reason.
More specifically, they’re meant to be used for hanging bags with more delicate things, such as eggs, instead of having them get smashed by all the heavier items piling on top of each other in the cart.
