People aren’t the only things in the world that make mathematical errors. We trust machines to work out complicated calculations, but perhaps we shouldn’t put too much faith in our computers.
This cash register worked out the suggested tips based on a percentage of the overall bill, but the computer’s calculator needed recalibrating. It’s more than a little off, and if the bill was for a larger amount, we think some people might get caught out and pay over the odds on their tips.
